Centriole Duplication and Segregation Cycle
This detailed diagram illustrates the fascinating journey of centrioles throughout the cell cycle, detailing their precise duplication and segregation. It shows how mother and daughter centrioles disengage in G1 to form individual centrosomes, and how in some G0 cells, they can even serve as basal bodies for cilia formation. As the cell prepares for division, procentrioles assemble and elongate during the S phase. By G2, the centrosomes mature, preparing for mitosis, where they organize mitotic poles to ensure even segregation into new daughter cells.
